Welcome to National Cathedral School.
Since 1900 NCS has thrived educating a diverse group of young women of strong character, great intelligence, and skill. In addition, our students grow up in the light of the Washington National Cathedral, where they gather each week for worship.
Teachers here respect and challenge each girl and inspire excellence, independence, self-discipline, and creativity. Consequently, students truly commit to their classes; they develop a strong work ethic; and they express themselves freely and fully. When you visit you will see that our classrooms and hallways are lively with debate, scholarship, the next great idea, calls to service, and, of course, friendship. We are blessed by the company of 580 terrific young women.
NCS students take full advantage of our focused academic environment designed for girls while enjoying academic, extracurricular, and social connections with Saint Albans School for Boys on the beautiful 57- acre Cathedral Close.
NCS alumnae are the engine of a national school community with a faithful local base in the greater Washington area. Each year, they and our current parents support school life as speakers, volunteers, and expert resources. These family relationships tend to last a lifetime. This historic bond connects our graduates’ childhood education, their careers, and their families.
